It's a good idea to have a Thai SIM card in your phone for communication while in Thailand. Check if your phone can take Thai SIM card.

Try this Thai tourist guide.
I met him at a wellknown temple.
His name sounds like Valan & his family are all tourist guide.

My intuition tells me that he is good, & honest guide.

Dear Mitchell Meinders,Thanks for your question and very welcome to Thailand, you can send mail to my daughter "Sandra" she was responsible for touring and ticketing department in my company at ginagossiphouse@gmail.com. For the expenses of Tour Guide, please do not worry for coz my company quite small and many friends to help so may be i will ask some of my friends to guide you in unbelivableable economy price. But anyway you can count on me in Bangkok if you need any information. Again..you like my website? "www.ginagossiphouse.com"??? Have a nice day..Gina

I would say having a tour guide is a good idea because it cost you not much at all. Thai living cost is quite low compared to all the Western countries. It save your time, & you may enjoy a lot more. You don't have to worry much of any matters.

There is a museum dotted around for Thai history, art, etc. But not as many as found in most Western countries. The national one that is close to the emeral buddha seems to be dull - not popular -- my information was some years ago, anway!

It seems that most people (60-80%) don't have their guide at the emeral buddha temple and the Grand Palace.
However, there is an audio guide device in English & some other languages at the temple & the palace.

As for the price, I just simply don't know it. I went to check on some web pages still could not tell how much it should be. If no arrangement for cars, vans, foods, whatsoever, I would say 400-1500 bahts for a whole day. Thailand should have set up the price! Ha ha... I wish there is children guides & people pay at there own will.

Cheers,
K+
