Is the street across from police station still Khao San Road?

If you are walking from the river Banglapoo dock towards Khoa San you cut through some sois and come out on small street that may or may not be Khao San Road it seems like it is brick or cobblestone unlike black pavement. It had lots of little restaurants and at the corner before it turns into what may be Khao san there is always someone selling used shoes, backpacks and other assorted pawned items from traelers. If you keep walking you scome to the corner across from police station.I saw a few guesthouses and hotels there and would like to stay on that side instead of actual Khao San road. Does anyone know what the name of street is and any guesthouse or hotel recomendations that could help my reserach? Thanks

That's Rambuttri Road - there are millions of great places down there... Rambuttri Village is very popular, and O Bangkok is good... what's your budget?

Thanks for your reply. Right now I am just putting small tour together so haven't worked out the budget. On the average with the groups I spend about 35-40 US a night. Now when I am alone I stay at much more budget places. With a group I do like to step up a bit.LOL I find they like the smaller more intimate guesthouses with charm, these types always seem to be more to the liking of my groups. If you have any other ideas I appreciate it as I am always on the search for different places to stay. My last group stayed at the Trang but just a little too far from KSR and the river dock and in typical 3 star rating Bangkok scale it is a musty, tired run down old hotel LOL.
